Riva Starr has always been one of my favorite DJ’s – it’s full-on, no-nonsense party music. High tempo’s, lots of funk, and an extreme disregard for snooty purists who can’t enjoy a touch of lighthearted mischief on a dancefloor.

His recent pairing with singer RSSLL has resulted in exciting new material which deviates from his usual tech-house fare, but stays in line with his generally optimistic aesthetic. Here’s a short clip of new single ‘Kill Me’.

Bliss. I missed this track 2 months ago – mostly because I wasn’t aware of Vampire Weekend having a new album. Truth be told, after having a summer of delirious festival fun to ‘A Punk‘, I didn’t really bother to check out their other material. Judging from this track and what I’ve heard from the new album so far, that was a huge mistake. Enjoy!

If liking this song is a crime, please arrest me.

Gearing up for the weekend, and what a weekend it will be! DJ sets on DJ sets on DJ sets on DJ sets… And a Pentecostal day of utter relaxation afterwards. I’m definitely ready with this banger by Tinush.

Nothing new here, but have had this live rendition on repeat for the past few weeks.

It’s suited to these warm spring rains.

Massive new tune by Rampue. The whole EP is on Spotify as well, been on repeat at the office for weeks.

Yes, weeks is what it’s been since the last sojourn. I’m working on a lay-out overhaul, bear with me ;)

Ka-boom. Here’s some forward-thinking house for you. It’s bouncing, grooving, altogether moving. Definitely staying in my setlist for a while. Just realized Arkist is one of the first artists I featured on TAJ, way back at #18 :)

EP dropped on Hypercolour yesterday. Check it out.

Start your week right with this massive remix of Alela Diane’s gorgeous track ‘Take Us Back’. Bittersweet house.

Thanks to Tymon for pointing me this way.

Not too long ago I posted about Bibio (#113).

I usually try not to post twice about the same artist, especially not in such a short timeframe… But the sheer breadth of styles this guy is capable of producing makes it worth it. More importantly, he knows how to do it right. Uplifting stuff to start your weekend with.

I used to listen to Lymbyc System when I went to California, which seems like a lifetime ago.

Smooth sounds today.
